The Specifications of a Farmall Super C

Produced by International Harvester between 1951 and 1954, the Farmall Super C tractor was an upgrade to the previous Farmall C. The Super C model has a slightly larger engine, an increased compression ration and adjustable rear tires. Farmall Super Cs were good tractors for small farming operations and, due to their versatility, found use as light task machines on large farms. The durability of these tractors makes them popular collectors' items, and you will find many of them still in use on farms today. Approximately 100,000 Farmall Super C tractors were manufactured.

Engine

The engine in a Farmall Super C is classified by International Harvester as a C123. This gasoline-powered unit has 123 inches of displacement and four cylinders. Spark plug firing order is 1-3-4-2. The C123 is rated at 1,400 revolutions per minute (RPM) and is designed with a liquid cooling system using water. Compression ratio for this engine is rated as 6:1. The air intake design for the Farmall Super C is naturally aspirated.

Transmission

Farmall Super C transmissions consist of a rear-wheel-drive sliding-gear design. The tractor has four forward gear ratios and one reverse. Speeds range from 2.4 m.p.h. in first gear to 3.8 m.p.h. in second gear and 5 m.p.h. in third. Top forward speed is 10.3 m.p.h. in fourth gear, with reverse moving the tractor at 3 m.p.h.

Capacities and Dimensions

The Farmall Super C fuel tank holds 11 gallons. Required engine oil capacity is 5 quarts, with 15 quarts of coolant necessary for the radiator system. The tractor's wheelbase is 82.25 inches with a length of 123 inches. Vehicle height is 74.75 inches with a width of 81 inches. The Super C has a minimum turning radius of 15 feet. Rear tread is 47 to 80 inches. The operating weight for is 3,000 pounds.

Additional Information

The C class of Farmall tractors allows you to raise and lower the rear hitch with a “Touch Control” system consisting of a single lever. This machine has manual steering with differential mechanical disc brakes. The power take-off (PTO) system provides 540 rpm. All Farmall Super C tractors were manufactured in Chicago with an original price of $1,700 in 1954.
