Inside the dark green shell of an avocado is a light-colored fruit that is cooling, nutty and slightly buttery tasting. Although avocados are high in fat, most is the monounsaturated kind -- meaning it won't raise your cholesterol level. But since the fruit is also high in calories you can snack on an avocado over a few days and store the rest.
