With a detachable head and telescoping wand, the Dyson Animal is a high-performance vacuum. However, if your Dyson Animal is not functioning properly, performing some troubleshooting steps may remedy your problem.

Loss of Suction

Unplug the vacuum from the wall.

Press the release button located on the bottom right side of the machine to release the filter housing.

Depress the button on the side of the filter housing to release the filter.

Remove the dirt canister from the machine and empty into a trash can.

Open the filter housing, located where the canister sits on the vacuum, and remove the filter.

Wash both filters with cold water until the water runs clear.

Allow the filters to dry for at least 24 hours. When the filters are completely dry, replace them in the filter housings.

Machine Turns Off During Use

Unplug the machine and leave it off for at least one hour. The machine may have overheated.

Empty the dirt canister and clean both filters.

Examine the brush to ensure that no large items are keeping the brush from turning.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the machine is making an unusual noise or emitting bad smells, discontinue the use of the vacuum immediately.
