Single-sided mattresses can not flipped over like traditional double-sided mattresses, because there is only padding on one side. Single-sided mattresses are less expensive than double-sided mattresses, and are sometimes preferred because they do not require regular flipping. These types of mattresses are ideal for older consumers, those living alone or people with back problems. Yet, since a mattress is expensive to replace, regular maintenance will help it remain usable for as long as possible.

Remove the blankets and sheets from your bed. Set the linens aside or launder them.
Turn the mattress 180 degrees, so that the part of the mattress that was at the head of the bed is now at the foot of the bed.
Replace the linens onto the bed.
Make plans to flip the mattress every two weeks for the first three months you own the new mattress, and approximately every two months for the duration of use.
