Making costumes for children can always seem a little difficult at first, especially if they choose something unique like an acorn. But making the costume is not only far more inexpensive than buying or renting one, but it is also a great opportunity for you and your child to bond. An acorn is an adorable holiday costume that would look great on any child, and is so easy and inexpensive to make.

Things You'll Need

  • Brown sweatshirt
  • Brown sweatpants
  • Brown baseball cap
  • Newspaper
  • Scissors
  • Craft glue
  • Green paint
  • Brown shoes
  • Brown socks

Buy a cheap brown sweatshirt and matching sweatpants. Even a brown turtleneck would work here, but try and match the color with the pants for a more authentic look.

Crumple up some of the newspaper and stuff the sweatshirt to give the outfit a rounded, plump look.

Cut the bill off a brown baseball cap. Make sure the cap sits on the head.

Crumple up more of the newspaper and stretch it out into a long cylindrical shape. This will be the stem. Paint it green and set it aside while it dries. When it is dry, carefully glue it to the middle of the cap.

Pair the outfit with some brown shoes and socks, and you have an adorable acorn costume.
