How to Make Your Own Easy, All Natural Shampoo

All-natural products, including shampoos, are always a wise choice. They do not contain any chemicals that might be found in regular store-bought shampoos. Brand name all-natural shampoos are expensive, and you can actually save money by making your own all-natural shampoo. Making shampoo is easy, and after you have done it a few times it will become second nature.

Things You'll Need

  • Empty shampoo bottle

  • 4 oz. distilled water

  • 4 oz. liquid castile soap

  • 10 drops of essential oils

Step 1

Save your old, empty shampoo bottle. Wash it out thoroughly and let it dry out completely. If you do not have an old shampoo bottle, any clean 8 oz. jar will do.

Step 2

Pour 4 oz. of distilled water into your empty shampoo bottle. You can buy distilled water at your local grocery store.

Step 3

Add 4 oz. of liquid castile soap to the shampoo bottle. Liquid castile soap is available at your local health store, or from an online website that sells all-natural products.

Step 4

Add 10 drops of your choice of essential oils. This will depend on the scents you like, or the health benefits you seek from the essential oils. For example, if you have dandruff then you will want to use tea tree essential oil. If you have oily hair, lavender essential oil is a good choice. Of course, if you just want a basic shampoo that smells good, you can use rose oil.

Step 5

Place the lid on the shampoo bottle and shake until the ingredients are combined. Use a quarter size amount each time you shampoo your hair.

Some other essential oils that lend themselves to a pleasantly scented shampoo include peppermint, orange and coconut.
