Orchids represent love, beauty and strength. The attractive flowers are often used in corsages to be used at weddings, dances or other formal events. If you want to capture the fresh essence of the corsage and preserve it, the task can be done with a simple mixture made from household ingredients. The mixture will allow the orchid to remain in its natural form without drying and crumbling to nothing.

Add a cup of Borax into a bowl. Borax is another name for the powdered form of sodium borate, or boric acid. It is sold in most grocery stores. Add two cups of cornmeal to the bowl and mix well.
Pour some of the mixture into a stationery box so that the powder is 3/4-inch high in the bottom of the box. Gently place the orchid corsage, petals facing down, into the mixture.
Cover the corsage with more of the mixture until the mixture on top of the orchid is 3/4-inch high.
Close the stationery box and allow it to sit for 3-1/2 weeks. When you remove the orchid, gently shake any excess powder off or blow on it.
