Stainless steel barbecue grills are corrosive-resistant and very durable, but can be damaged by lack of cleaning. If you have let your stainless steel barbecue grill become very dirty, with lots of baked on mess, you’re in for a big cleaning job. The best way to clean your stainless steel barbecue is to do so after every use—this will not only make the cleanup job super quick, but will ensure your grill stays in tip-top shape for years to come.
Things You'll Need
- Baking soda
- Soft-bristle scrubbing brush
- Mild detergent
- Paper towel
Sprinkle a layer of baking soda onto burnt-on grease and food stuff and dampen with water. Leave for four or five hours.
Scrub off the remnants of the burnt-on dirt with the soft-bristled brush, just enough to lift the burnt-on particles off the steel. Rinse with warm water.
Fill the bucket with warm water and detergent in a 30:1 solution of water to detergent. Apply this solution over the grill and leave for five minutes. Wipe off with the cloth. If stains or dirt still remain, repeat the water and detergent soak until the stains are lifted. Buff dry with paper towels.
Mix a 30:1 solution of warm water and detergent in a bucket and apply to the barbecue after it has cooled down. Leave for five minutes, then scrub with the soft-bristled brush. Rinse with warm water.
Apply a second layer of detergent and water solution and leave for five minutes. Rinse with warm water and dry it off with a cloth.
Apply a teaspoon of baking soda to a dry piece of paper towel and buff the exterior of the barbecue with the soda. Make sure to buff in the direction of the stainless steel grain. Wipe off with a clean paper towel. This ensures that no particles remain on the stainless steel surface, so the steel can build its corrosive-resistant layer without hindrance.
