When working with oil-based paints, it is extremely important to be careful, or you may end up with paint on your clothes. Although this can be a disastrous situation, there fortunately is a remedy if you do get paint on your clothes. You should act as quickly as possible, however, to avoid the paint the setting in.

Things You'll Need

  • Mineral spirits
  • Detergent
  • Washing machine

Pour a small amount of mineral spirits on the clothing where the oil-based paint is located. Apply enough mineral spirits to completely soak the area.

Allow the mineral spirits to soak on the clothing for about 10 minutes.

Apply more mineral spirits and allow it to soak in again if the stain has not dispersed.

Wash the clothing with regular detergent on the cold cycle. Check to make sure the stain is gone before putting the clothing in the dryer. If it’s not gone, repeat the above steps again.
