There are a number of cosmetic reasons someone would want to color their hair to a salt-and-pepper or gray hue. Gray hair may be required for a party costume, an actor may need to age their looks to play a character or a person may like the salt-and-pepper look. In less than a half an hour, you can create a salt-and-pepper hair color that will come out easily the next time you shampoo.
Things You'll Need
- Gel or hairspray
- Baby powder
Wrap a towel around your neck to protect your clothes from catching excess baby powder. Tuck the towel into the collar of your shirt.
Apply a generous amount of gel or hairspray to your hair. Using your hairbrush, work the hair product through your hair so that your hair is evenly covered with product.
Hold the baby powder over your head and lightly tap out a small amount of powder onto your hair. Have a friend help you with this step if necessary.
Brush through your hair to spread the baby powder. Your natural hair color will now be flecked with small white pieces of baby powder, creating a salt-and-pepper look. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 until you’ve reached the desired level of gray.
