Wrinkles and creases in paper can present a challenge when you want to remove them. Because paper fibers stretch and have a memory when they stay in a folded position for an extended time, you may not successfully remove every trace of a wrinkle, but you should be able to flatten the paper successfully again to minimize wrinkles. Remove paper wrinkles with a two-step process to restore your paper’s flat appearance.

Things You'll Need:

  • Press Cloth
  • Ironing Board
  • Large, Heavy Books
  • Steam Iron

Set up the ironing board and spread the wrinkled paper over the ironing board. Set the iron to a low-heat setting with steam.

Lay the press cloth over the wrinkled paper and iron the paper through the press cloth to remove the wrinkles. Continue ironing the paper until you remove as many wrinkles as you can. Turn the paper over to iron the backside, if necessary.

Open a large book to its center and place the paper in between the pages of the book. Close the book and place one or two more books on top of the closed book.

Leave the ironed paper in the book for 24 to 48 hours. Remove the paper from the book after the time elapses and the paper should be flat.
