Whether it's the card suit or the co-ruler of Wonderland, the Queen of Hearts is an iconic character that you can recreate for Halloween or a costume party. When creating your own Queen of Hearts costume, make it as simple or as elaborate as you like.

Step 2

Attach the hearts to the base outfit -- a red dress, short or long, or a red blouse paired with a red skirt -- with craft glue. You can also use a combination of red and black for the base outfit.

Step 3

Pair shorter skirts or dress with tights featuring a heart-shaped motif. Finish the look with a pair of red high heels or flats.

Card Collar

Step 1

Measure the circumference of your neck using a cloth tape measure. Write down the measurement.

Step 2

Create a collar template by cutting a semi-circle the size of your neck out of a piece of computer paper. The paper should be in a landscape position when cutting. Put the collar template on to ensure it fits properly around the neck.

Step 3

Place a few cards on top of one another, fanning them out as if you were playing a card game. Staple the cards together. Continue in this manner, using the collar template as a guide until you have created a semi-circle that fits your neck.

Step 4

Make a second, larger semi-circle by stapling the cards in the same manner as before. This second semi-circle goes behind the first circle to create the collar.

Step 5

Lay the first semi-circle over the second, covering about half of the second set of cards. Staple the two semi-circles together.

Step 6

Poke a small hole into the middle top of the collar with a knife. Poke a second small hole a few inches to the left of the first hole. Poke a third small hole a few inches to the right of the first hole.

Step 7

Insert a bobby pin into all three holes. Place the collar around your neck and attach the bobby pins to your hair to keep the collar up.

The Crown

Step 1

Cut the lip portion off a plastic cup. Make the points of the crown by cutting triangle "M"-like shapes downward from the top of the cup.

Step 2

Cut two slits -- one on each side -- at the bottom of the plastic cup. This is where you will slide the headband through.

Step 3

Spray the plastic cup crown with metallic gold spray paint. Let the cup dry for several hours before handling.

Step 4

Cut small heart-shapes from a piece of red felt. Attach the hearts to the points of the crown using craft glue. Let the glue dry completely before continuing.

Step 5

Slide the wire headband through the holes you slit in the bottom of the cup. Don't slide the crown all the way to the middle; instead, slide it a little to the side to make it look a little skewed.

Tip

Complete the look by creating a heart-shaped mouth on your lips with red lipstick.
