Commitment

Step 1

Sign up via the official website, callanetics.com. According to Callanetics Master Trainer Judy Mooser, as of November, 2009, the cost including shipping was $1,250 for the Callan Evolution program. Cardio Callanetics costs $400 if packaged with the main program, or $650 if purchased later. The forms of payment accepted by CMC are Visa and MasterCard.

Step 2

Discuss any initial concerns or questions with a Master Trainer over the phone or through email.

Step 3

Receive the educational package, which includes a training manual, "Callanetics Evolution" DVD, "Callanetics 10 Years Younger in 10 Hours" DVD, and an informational book. In addition, a Master Trainer is assigned for guidance and counseling.

The Cardio Callanetics teaching program includes a training manual, training DVD, CardioCallanetics Music CD, and a CardioCallanetics DVD.

The Program

Step 1

Study the material and begin practicing. The material covers physiological concepts, teaching methods and exercises for all levels of students. Those with special needs are given additional focus. Emphasis is placed on proper techniques, body positioning, intensifications, modifications and corrections. The Callanetics method of teaching is explained, which uses unique hand and voice techniques. The course is intended to be completed in eight weeks, but an extension may be given.

Step 2

Gather at least three students and practice teaching the techniques and exercises learned. Utilize all information from course material with the goal of demonstrating mastery of the concepts, techniques and teaching style.

Step 3

Work closely with the assigned Master Trainer who will advise and answer any questions through e-mail or phone.

Certification

Step 1

Take a written exam and send a DVD demonstrating instruction in front of at least three students for both the Evolution and Cardio courses. A Master Trainer will critique and evaluate teaching methods and style for each course. (See References 1, 2 and 3)

Step 2

Receive a wall and wallet sized Certified Callanetics Teacher certificate, both signed by Callan Pinckney and the current president of CMC. This certification allows a new instructor to begin using the Callanetics name & logo and have the option of being listed on the official Callanetics website. (See References 1 and 3)

Step 3

Renew the certification for Callanetics instructor by attending a Callanetics refresher seminar held in various locations around the world or by submitting another teaching DVD. The certification is valid for three years. (See References 3)
