You can kill mold without bleach and you won't even have to do any scrubbing. The new modern mold and mildew killers not only kill the mold and the mold spores, they also dissolve the mold away. You can spray, rinse and then spray again as a protective barrier to keep mold and mildew from coming back.

Things You'll Need

  • Mold and mildew spray
  • Fresh water rinse

Video of the Day

Get a non-bleach mold and mildew spray from your local hardware store or online.

Spray the mold heavily to saturate it. Allow the mold to remain wet for 15 minutes. It will begin to dissolve in this time.

Rinse the mold with fresh water. The mold will literally come off by itself. Spray the surface area again with the mold spray, and allow it to dry. This will leave a protective barrier against recurring mold infestation.

Tips & Warnings

  • The EPA recommends that you wear face protection to prevent mold spores from entering your body.
  • If there is mold hidden beneath surfaces, behind wall paper, or inside of walls, you need to take additional precautions that are beyond the scope of this article.
