How to Make Graduation Chocolate Pops

If you're hosting a graduation party, impress your guests with these Graduation Cap Chocolate Pops. No one will guess how easy they are to make, and you might find people saying 'Congratulations!' to you as well!

Things You'll Need

  • Milk chocolate squares
  • Miniature peanut butter cups
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Twisted licorice candy 
  • 8-inch lollipop sticks
  • Edible adhesive
  • Small piece of floral foam 

Tip

  • Keep chocolates and licorice refrigerated until ready to use.

    Work in a cool and dry place to keep melting to the minimum.

Step 1: Create an Assembly Line

Gather your ingredients and tools and create an assembly line on a countertop or table. This way you will have easy access to the ingredients. Keep chocolate squares and peanut butter cups wrapped until ready to assemble.

Step 2: Cut Licorice Strings

With a pair of kitchen shears, cut the licorice candy into 2-inch pieces. When you have your shortened pieces, cut them horizontally within the grooves to make thin strings. You will need one string per pop. When you have your strings, set aside until ready to assemble.

Step 3: Prepare the Square Top of the Hat

Unwrap one chocolate square and lay it on a flat surface. Add a line of edible adhesive going from the center of the square towards the bottom right corner.

Step 4: Add the Top Button

Place a mini chocolate chip in the center of the square, where the line of edible adhesive begins. Hold the chocolate chip in place, putting just enough pressure to ensure adhesion.

Step 5: Add the Tassel

Place a pre-cut licorice candy string along the line of edible adhesive. Hold in place, putting just enough pressure to ensure adhesion.

Step 6: Refrigerate and Continue

Put the assembled chocolate "cap" in the refrigerator and repeat steps 3 through 5 until you have enough caps for your guests.

Step 7: Assemble the Pops

Insert Lollipop Stick

Unwrap a peanut butter cup from foil but keep the inner wrapper intact. Insert a lollipop stick in the center of the peanut butter cup, just enough to fit.

Tip

  • Avoid pushing the lollipop stick through the whole peanut butter cup, as it will fall through. If this happens, use a new peanut butter cup.

Add Edible Adhesive

Add a drop of edible adhesive on the top of the peanut butter cup and spread it across the surface. Insert stick into a piece of floral foam.

Attach the Flat Top

Attach the pre-made flat top to the top of the peanut butter cup. Transfer the finished pop to the fridge and repeat until you have the desired number of pops. The pops are ready once the edible adhesive has hardened.

Tip

  • Keep the assembled graduation pops refrigerated until you're ready to display.

Step 8: Create the Display

Things You'll Need

  • Small rectangular vase or box
  • Styrofoam or floral foam
  • Wrapping paper
  • Serrated knife
  • Scissors
  • Tape or hot glue gun

Using a serrated-edge knife, cut the floral foam or styrofoam so it fits snuggly inside the box. Make sure there isn't any room for the foam to move around. Wrap the filled box with celebratory wrapping paper and secure with tape or hot glue.

Once the graduation pops are ready -- meaning the edible adhesive has hardened and all parts of the chocolate caps have completely adhered to each other -- transfer them to the display.

Tip

  • To make individual displays, insert the pops into foam-filled shot glasses.
