LG manufactures a line of LCD and plasma flat-screen televisions that feature HDMI, component and composite ports for external inputs. For example, you can connect a cable box, DVD player and video game console to your LG TV, and then rotate between the three external devices using your remote control. If you are experiencing problems with the external inputs on your LG TV, you can follow several troubleshooting steps.

Make sure that all external devices are firmly plugged in to the appropriate ports on the back of the LG TV.

Check to ensure that the TV's power cable is properly connected to a wall outlet or power strip. Also, move the power switch on the back of the TV to the "On" position.

Remove the cover on the back of the LG remote control and replace the AA batteries.

Disconnect the TV's power cord and all external input cables going into the audio, and video ports on the back of the TV.

Wait five minutes, and then reconnect the power cord and all external input cables.

Turn on the LG TV and the external input device you want to use.

Press the "MENU" button on the remote, and then use the up and down arrow buttons to highlight the "SETUP" option. Press the right arrow button to enter the submenu.

Use the up and down arrow buttons to highlight "Input Source," and then press the right arrow button to select it.

Use the up and down arrow buttons to highlight the external input port to which your device is connected.

Press "MENU" to switch to the selected external input device.
