It’s easy to assume hats just aren’t your thing or you can’t quite pull them off like your friend can. This may be true, but with the range of hats available to the modern woman, chances are you can wear one style or another if you put it on with a little confidence.
Fedoras – From floppy brims to wide brims, curvy tops to round tops, there are fedoras to flatter all head shapes and body proportions. Try on several styles, and find one that works for you. The leather-banded wool fedora pictured above pairs well with a cable knit sweater, jeans and tall boots. Easy styling with a little bohemian edge.
Ball Cap – Not just for the sporty girl or bad hair days, a ball cap can be a stylish addition to your wardrobe. A leather or houndstooth cap offers a good option for changing up the mix of pieces you are wearing. Add one to a dress and booties, or style it with a loose top and jeans. Try different textures and shapes to find the ball cap that works well for you.
Beanies – This hat type, with its snug fit, can be intimidating. However, you can work a loose-fitting cable-knit beanie in different angles until you find a good fit. I slouch mine in the back with my hair down to add more visual proportion to the look. Pair a beanie with a long cardigan and leather leggings or a jacket, dress and ankle boots. Bonus: it keeps your ears warm during the harsher months. Doesn’t hurt to stock up on a few bold colors to work with throughout fall and winter.
So which one is it? Are you a ball cap-, fedora- or beanie-type of girl? Maybe you like to play around with all three like me.
