Prepping Your Porch for Fall

eHow Home Blog

It’s time to switch our mindsets from swimming pools and barbecues to pumpkins and fall foilage. With the front porch welcoming friends and family into our homes, there is no better place to start ushering in the spirit of the season.

For my own porch, a few simple and inexpensive accessories were just the ticket for creating that extra seasonal spark.

Mums the word: Available in so many beautfiully rich colors, it’s no wonder mums
are easily recognizable as one of fall’s favorite flowers. A potted orange mum not only sparks the familiar fall feeling, but also adds a pop of color to the space.

Shine a little light: Add an inviting warmth to your front porch with a lantern or two. A great way to add a hint of fall and guide your guests with a little extra light when the days start to shorten.

Pillow talk: Time to switch out the vibrant hues of summer fabrics with rich browns, oranges and reds. Outdoor throw pillow are a great way to bring the colors of fall to your front porch.

Door decor: Top off your fall inpired porched with a festive wreath. Not only will this berry wreath put a little fall pep in my front porch step, but will transition nicely into the holiday season as well.
