Prep Your Closet for Fall

eHow Home Blog

It’s that time of year again — out with the shorts and in with the sweaters! When organizing your closet for fall, stick to the basics and make throwing together the perfect outfit a breeze all season long.

Categorize and revitalize …

Start by grouping your fall wardrobe into categories: jeans, sweaters, long-sleeved t-shirts, dressees, etc. Organizing your closet this way not only ensures that you find just what you are looking for when you need it, but also helps you see what items you need more of to make it through the season.

Give summer sandals the boot …

So long flip-flops! It’s time to bring out the boots. If you don’t have the original boxes to keep your boots protected, use empty wine bottles to give floppy boots the lift they need to keep looking their best.

Wrap it up …

Scarves are one of the easiest ways to add a little personality to any fall look. Keep scarves stacked neatly nearby so that you can clearly see what you have in stock.

Coat count …

Pull out your coats and jackets from last season and see which ones are overdue for a trip to the drycleaners. Don’t wait until super chilly weather to give your trusty black peacoat a good cleaning. You know you’ll need it the day before its scheduled time.
