How to Make Stepping Stones From Old Cake Pans

eHow Home Blog

How to Make Stepping StonesI was cleaning out my cupboards the other day and came across a boatload of old cake pans. How did that happen? Seriously, how does a one acquire seven cake pans? I don’t even bake cakes very often.

Oh well. So what’s a girl to do with so many pans? Use those old cake pans to make stepping stones, of course!

Step 1

Pour about 1 tablespoon of oil in each of two cake pans. Using a pastry brush, coat the inside of the pan (including the sides) with oil.

Step 2

Gather up your assorted sea glass, glass tiles, marbles, shells and other little items of interest and practice laying them out in different patterns/designs so that when it comes time to place them into the fast-setting concrete you’ll know exactly how you want your stepping stone to look.

Step 3

In a wheelbarrow or an old bucket, mix together a half bag of fast-drying concrete with about a gallon of water or until the mixture has a nice chunky-soup consistency.

Step 4

Press the objects into the concrete so that they are sitting flush with the top of the concrete.

Let the concrete stepping stones cure for 24 to 48 hours in the cake pans before popping them out of the pans. How to Make Stepping StonesStep 6

Place your new stepping stones in your garden.

Now how easy was that? And the best part? Simply rinse out your old cake cans and reuse them again and again to make as many unique and amazing stepping stones as your heart desires!
