I love California. The beach, the sunny days, the laid back lifestyle, the celebrities, the casual way we get together to celebrate life’s big and small moments… how much better does it get? For over 20 years I’ve been styling homes in Southern California; catering to the ultra-famous, the ultra-rich and everyone in between. From Room at the Beach, my shop in Malibu, I run a hectic interior design business and assist my clients with anything they need to fulfill their dream of the California lifestyle. Whether it’s helping throw a fabulous party or going on a daytrip to Santa Barbara to select art pieces, I’m there!
My shop showcases quintessential accessories for California chic living and is also the place where I design and create many of my custom furniture pieces. My interior design projects range from small coastal beach retreats to Malibu mansions. My life is pretty crazy with teenage twins in high school, a thriving store and a growing interior design business. I’m just a mom trying to make it all happen, and I love every minute of it.
One of my favorite things to do is entertain. Having a great time with friends is relaxing (at least it can be, when done right) and restores balance to my otherwise hectic life. I love taking inspiration from each season to provide new and unique experiences for my guests. A couple of nights ago, I packed a picnic and took my guests to the lookout point on the cliffs above Malibu and served them wine and appetizers there. It was an amazing evening of stargazing and bonding with friends and family. I’m a bohemian at heart and my motto is: Live life with the doors wide open! I live my life with this mindset and my design style as well as my personal style are really an expression of it.
On this blog, I will share some of my favorite ways to entertain and decorate for the seasons. My design style is casual comfort that goes with the “beach chic” living that Malibu is famous for. The same goes for my entertaining style. I choose to plan parties that are easy to put together by putting effort into the details that really matter. For decorating, I like to keep staples that are timeless and accent them with trendy pieces or pops of color that bring them up to date.
I look forward to sharing my experiences and ideas with you.
