It’s the weekend and you know what that means: DIY projects await. With time to kill and fingers crossed for beautiful weather, if you’re anything like me, a little around-the-house inspiration is exactly what you need to tackle a new project.
This weekend, why not take care of that empty wall that’s been haunting you for far too long? With this incredibly simple DIY art project, we’ve got you (and your naked wall) covered.
To start, you’ll need to round up a few supplies, most of which can be picked up at your local craft store:
- Paint brush
Using your spatula, cover the entire canvas with a thin coat of spackling. The more texture the better, so don’t worry about making it look too perfect.
Once dry, select five or six paint colors and create streaks across your canvas. I’ve found that sticking to cooler shades (blues and greens) or warmer shades (oranges and yellows) work better than mixing too many different colors. For today’s guinea pig, I used various shades of greens with a smidge of pearly white.
Using your paint brush, blend until the entire canvas is covered. Once dry, hang your new wall art and watch friends and family ooh and ahh over your new masterpiece.
