Designing on a Budget

eHow Home Blog

When it comes to rehabbing old furniture into something just as fabulous (if not more so) than store-bought, the key is keeping an open mind. Instead of searching high and low for the perfect pair of budget-friendly console tables at expensive department stores, consider a dining table makeover.

That’s right, friend – I said dining table. With a little creative thinking, the right table can be easily transformed into two console tables. Still unsure? Let’s put this one to the DIY test.

Allow me to introduce you to my newest partner in furniture flipping crime. I discovered this dining table at a local thrift store for a mere $45, and by removing the leaf and separating the two ends, you can start to see where I’m heading with this project.

Luckily, each end of my table has three legs, but should your table need a bit more support, a couple of brackets mounting the underside of the table to the wall should do the trick.

After adding a bit of table top decor, my new console tables were up and ready to be admired. Unique, affordable and super earth-friendly, this DIY table projects is a wrap!
