I’ll admit, I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for graffiti and rock. I was a teenager in the ’90s who grew up in the ’80s with a hard rock loving sister and a mother who loved classical music. Pavarotti was a personal favorite, but I digress. All the more reason for this hip, graffiti-styled furniture by UK designer Jimmie Martin to speak to me – loud and clear.
I love his punk rock take on a classic frame. The in-your-face contemporary flair leaves me wondering if he and Banksy are friends. And with gold making a huge comeback, Martin’s use of metallic paint keeps it relevant. These glam pieces would look chic in any room.
And if you don’t have the budget for one of Martin’s pieces, you can try creating this look on any old piece of furniture you buy at a garage sale or flea market. Grab some spray paint and stencils, turn up your iPod (which should be blasting something along the lines of The Clash’s London Calling) and see what you come up with! It doesn’t get more punk rock than that.
