Create an Easy Outdoor Space

eHow Home Blog

If you are anything like me, you adore spending time relaxing outdoors, but perhaps your gardening skill level doesn’t support maintaining a large, lush green space. And, if I’m being honest, I would much rather spend my evenings relaxing in the great outdoors with a glass of wine and some good friends, than picking weeds and pruning shrubs. An unfussy outdoor haven is just what the doctor ordered!

Let’s use this space as our DIY guinea pig. In just a few easy steps, we’ll take this courtyard from a serious eyesore to a spectacular, relaxing oasis.

Hassle free flower beds…

Fresh mulch is a miracle worker when it comes to cleaning up any outdoor space. To make sure your mulch stays put, install edging around the perimeter of the bed. A task that is well worth the effort and will keep your grounds (and your fingernails) feeling clean and manicured in the long haul.

Potted plants are a brown thumb’s best friend…

Not only are potted plants easy to maintain, but planters varying in size and texture add interest to any outdoor space. Throw together an easy potted herb garden or a bunch of blooming beauties for an easy-to-care-for garden.

After all of the digging, mulching and planting, you deserve a cozy spot to kick back. Outdoor furniture is a must, but accessorizing really brings your space to life. A few outdoor throw pillows and candles go a long way in adding a little pep to your outdoor step!
