Today in Awesome DIY Design: Till Konneker’s Living Cube

When Till Konneker moved into his studio apartment, it had the plain rectangle shape of a shoe box and not much else. No storage space, no traditional bedroom area—nothing.

He could’ve quickly fixed his situation with some cheap pressboard shelves and a mattress—instead the artist rendered a blueprint of The Living Cube. It was an original design that married his bed, a shelving unit, and a closet (with another bed for guests).

He took his blueprint to the team of carpenters at Holzlabor and what you see here is the finished product.

The specs of The Living Cube you see in these photos are 157″ (length) x 55″ (width) x 80″ (height). Konneker also went with untreated spruce wood with a black stain finish.

Want one for yourself? Konneker will design a custom Cube for you—just send him an email here and visit his site designed specifically for The Living Cube (there are dozens of more photos there).
