This Saturday, March 14, 2015, or should I say 3/14/15, is a day of celebration for the most famous irrational number: pi. Simplified from its infinite digits to 3.14, the more precise number is 3.14159265359(…). That means for the first, last and only time this century, the date will reflect the first five digits of this famous mathematical constant, as opposed to the measly three we usually celebrate.
What does this mean to you? If you aren’t a frustrated mathematician inspired to use this day to sit down and really understand circles, it’s a day to guiltlessly bake and eat a delicious pie of your choice.
Don’t fight it. It’s in honor of math. Our friends at LIVESTRONG even show you how to work off the calories!
And like pi, your options are virtually limitless. No matter what you’re craving, there’s a pie out there for you. Need some ideas? We got you covered:
Or maybe you’re still on to your New Years Resolution:
Still need a reason? March 14 is also Albert Einstein’s Birthday, so pay homage to the father of science, indulge in a sweet treat, and then work off the calories!
Trust me, it’s worth it.
