Ten Minute Spring T-Shirt Shrug

eHow Crafts Blog

Ah, the pleasant air of spring…..makes me want to wear my summer dresses. But since it’s not quite warm enough for some of them, I transformed an old t-shirt to make a quick shrug that will ward off the chill until those hot days of summer arrive. It’s so easy, I want to make one in every color!

First cut right up the middle of an old t shirt.

Cut off the collar all around the neckline.

Fold over and sew a 1/2″ seam around the entire raw edge to form a casing.

Cut a 55″ piece of coordinating ribbon.

Attach one end of the ribbon to a safety pin.

Using the safety pin, thread the ribbon through the 1/2″ casing.

Put on the shrug, pull on the ribbon to gather the shrug to fit and sew the ends of the ribbon to hold in place.

Tie the ribbon and enjoy your summer dresses once again.
