Believe it or not, crocheted doilies actually have a rich history and played a role in everyday life for over a hundred years. But not many homes display these incredibly intricate pieces of art anymore. Why not unearth your grannie’s doilies and show off her handiwork on the back of your summer T-shirt. She would be delighted, I’m sure!
Just find a plain T-shirt and slip a magazine or a piece of cardboard inside. This way, when you pin on the doily, you’re only pinning the back layer of your shirt.
Pin all around the doily to hold it in place.
Then, making sure to only sew through the back layer of your shirt, use matching thread with your sewing machine to sew the doily onto the shirt. I just followed the main, wider lines of the doily and left the lacy parts free.
Now granny’s doilies have a new life and you have a fun and feminine T-shirt to throw on this summer.
