Did you know that July is National Ice Cream Month? It seems fitting since July is in the middle of the summer when everyone craves cool treats. Almost every summer celebration includes ice cream, from root beer floats to ice cream cakes to good, old-fashioned ice cream cones. Why not add a special touch to the ice cream cones you serve your guests?
Start by making a blank, ice cream cone wrapper template, and then customize each wrapper however you want. There are several ways to customize the wrappers. Print some out for the kids to decorate with markers, crayons and stickers. Or, use free online photo editing software to add logos or words to fit your party’s theme. Another way is to cut out a blank ice cream cone wrapper and trace it onto patterned scrapbook paper.
For my ice cream cone wrappers, I went with summer subway art. I typed words that remind me of summer in cheerful colors with various fonts. Here’s the subway art ice cream cone wrapper template for you to download for free!
Print off as many ice cream cone wrappers as you’ll need and cut them out. Wrap them around the cones and adjust the wrappers until they fit right. Apply nontoxic, acid free glue (or tape) to the seam to hold the wrapper in place. When designing your wrappers, remember to leave enough space to overlap and secure them around the cones.
The store-bought ice cream cones look so festive with the colorful wrappers on them.
Add a scoop of ice cream and dip it in sprinkles for even more color!
