Happens all the time: One project on Pinterest runs headlong into another project in my head, and somehow the two things become one in kind of a crafts mash-up.
First I ran across this wall art project from a Beautiful Mess. http://abeautifulmess.typepad.com/my_weblog/2011/08/song-lyric-wall-art-diy-project.html Loved the idea. Loved the colors. Loved the execution.
Later I found this washer monogram on I’ll Get You My Pretties. http://illgetyoumypretties.blogspot.com/2011/03/wall-art-on-cheap.html
The two ideas danced with my washi tape obsession, and an idea was born.
Cover a square of foam core or white cardboard with washi tape, laid out on the diagonal.
Print out and enlarge a monogram (The font here is American Typewriter Bold.) Cut out the design to create a stencil.
Center the stencil on the board and weight it down. Lay out washers to fill the monogram.
Put the project on stable work surface where you can use spray paint. (A drop cloth on the driveway works nicely.) Remove the stencil.
spray paint the entire board, including the washers. Let the paint dry completely.
Remove the washers to reveal a brightly colored, stripy monogram. Part A Beautiful Mess wall art; part I’ll Get You My Pretties washers, but all new.
What ideas have you mashed up? We’d love to hear about them.
