These four easy methods will help remove the odor of smoke from clothes, curtains, cushions, furniture and any other fabrics you may have.

METHOD 1: VINEGAR AND WATER

Good for: Clothing and Linens

Fill your sink or a tub with warm water and add 1 cup of distilled white vinegar. Stir to mix vinegar with water.

Allow your fabric items to soak in the vinegar bath for at least one hour. Remove and wash according to care instructions.

METHOD 2: BAKING SODA AND WATER

Good for: Clothing and Linens

Fill your sink or a tub with warm water and add 1 cup of baking soda. Stir to mix baking soda with water.

Allow the fabric items to soak in the baking soda mixture for at least 1 hour. Wash according to care instructions.

METHOD 3: BAKING SODA AND PLASTIC BAG

Good for: Curtains, Throw Blankets and Small Area Rugs

Place fabric item in a large plastic bag that has a tight seal.

Add 1 cup of baking soda to the bag and seal tightly. Shake the bag to evenly distribute baking soda. Leave the bag closed overnight. Remove and wash according to care instructions.

METHOD 4: ODOR NEUTRALIZING FABRIC SPRAY

Good for: Chairs, Sofas and Mattresses

Start by adding 2 cups of witch hazel to a spray bottle.

Next add 20 drops of lemon essential oil.

Shake well and spray liberally on fabric items. As the spray dries, it will help absorb the smoke smell and freshen fabric.
