Will Peroxide Remove PVC Glue Spills From Nylon Carpet?
Glue stains, such as PVC glue on carpet, can be embarrassing to the appearance of the carpet. Glue stains on carpet can also create a sticky mess as foot traffic spreads the glue across the carpet. Glue stains can easily be removed from the carpet through the use of chemicals and tools in the house without having to go to the expense of calling for carpet cleaning service or the much greater expense of replacing the carpet. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Freezing
-
Ice cubes harden glue stains for easy removal. Freeze the glue stain with one large ice cube by setting the ice cube on top of the glue. Allow the ice cube to slowly melt and the water to penetrate the stain. This helps to contain the area of the stain, and moisten any portion of the glue stain that may have dried on the carpet before you begin dissolving the stain with the hydrogen peroxide solution.
Blotting
-
Blot the glue stain on the carpet with a solution consisting of an equal blend of hot water and hydrogen peroxide. Blotting the stain helps the peroxide to penetrate the stain with the bubbles of the peroxide, so that the stain can be thoroughly dissolved and most of the stain can be removed before proceeding to the next step of the glue stain removal process. Use a solution of more peroxide than water for more stubborn glue stains, such as those which have set in for long periods of time.

Knife
-
Heat the blade end of a butter knife until the end of the blade becomes hot to the touch. Gently apply the blade through the remaining traces of the stain, which should be small and nearest to the surface of the carpet. The hot blade will slice through the glue and help the glue cling to the blade for easier cleanup. Melt the glue from the blade of the butter knife by running the blade under hot water for one to three minutes.
