How to Make an AIM Icon

Creating your icons to use with AIM (American Online Instant Messenger) is easy to do. You can create your icons directly from your AIM program, go to a website where you can design custom made icons, or purchase a program where you use images from your computer to create AIM icons.

• Website to create icons for AIM
• Software to create AIM icons

Instructions

1. Open AIM and go to "Settings" and locate the "Buddylist" window. Click on "Edit" and choose "Settings" from the menu that appears. From there, click on the "Expressions" tab, and then click "Browse." Choose your icon from the "Select a Buddy Icon" tool, and then click "Save" to finish.

2. Visit a website where you can create an AIM icon. Some of these sites allow you to pick from their lists where you can create animated (glitter) text only and many different kinds of icons which you can customize and use.

3. Purchase a program where you can create AIM icons from images already on your computer or images that come with the program. Many of these programs allow you to create icons, not only for AIM, but for any program you use where you need an icon or an avatar such as Windows XP.

• There are some size requirements involved in creating icons from images on your computer, so find out what those are before creating your icon.
