How Can I Get a Slimmer Waist Line?

There is no magic cure to get a slimmer waistline. To slim your waist and get the figure that you want, you will have to eat a healthy diet and exercise to lose the extra pounds that have settled around your abdomen. Exercises to tone the muscles help to slim down the area, but they will not target the fat around your waist.

  1. Healthy Diet

    • To slim down the waist, begin with a healthy diet that consists of lean proteins such as chicken, fish and plant-based proteins like soy. Red meat is acceptable, but it should be limited to one or two times per week. Red meat contains saturated fat, which is an unhealthy fat that contributes to heart disease.

      Include complex carbohydrates from whole grains, fruits and vegetables in your healthy diet. These foods help you to feel full at meals, which will limit the amount of calories that you consume in a day.

      You should also consume a small amount of healthy fats. The fat on your diet should come from olive oil, canola oil, nuts and polyunsaturated fats.

      A healthy diet is the best way to lose weight, including the weight around the waist area. A diet cannot target specific weight on the body, but when your diet is healthy, your body will benefit.

    Aerobic Activity

    • Fat burning exercises will help to eliminate the fat around your stomach. Use aerobic exercise to improve cardiovascular health and to burn off the fat around the waist. Aerobic exercise includes walking, biking, running and swimming. The exercise must be maintained for 20 to 30 minutes without stopping at least five days a week. No exercise will target the fat around the waist specifically, but you can lose weight by including aerobic activity in your exercise regimen.

    Muscle Toning

    • Crunches and exercises for the stomach do not burn off fat, but they can tone the muscles in the stomach and waistline to improve the appearance. Muscle toning exercises should be a part of your fitness routine along with aerobic activities. When the fat is lost after weight loss, the muscles of the belly and waist line will be taut and trim. A stronger abdomen and core can also help relieve lower back pain.
      The benefits of losing weight around the stomach and waistline are much more than just looking great. Extra weight in the stomach area has been linked to heart disease and diabetes.
