DIY Jewelry Rack Display
A wire jewelry tree rack is an artistic way to display your necklaces, bracelets and earrings. You can create this simple DIY project with craft wire cut to make a tree as small or as tall as you like. The only tool that you need to make this project is a pair of wire cutters.

Preparation
-
You'll need several strands of 18-gauge craft wire to make the trunk, branches and stand for your jewelry rack display. You could use 20-gauge craft wire to make the tree, but you would need double the amount of 20-gauge wire to make your tree as sturdy as one made with strands of 18-gauge wire. The 18-gauge wire will hold its shape and your jewelry better.
Cut each wire strand the same length, adding at least 5 inches to the overall height for the roots which will double as the stand for the jewelry rack. For example, if the overall desired height of your jewelry rack display is 20 inches, cut your wire strands 25 inches. Plan to cut at least seven strands of wire to make the display tree; the more strands you cut the thicker your tree trunk will be and the more branches you will have. Artistic wire comes in a variety of colors so you can be as creative as you like with your tree design.
Making the Wire Tree
-
To make the wire display tree, bundle the strands of wire together with the ends flush. Small strips of 20-gauge craft wire will work to hold the bundle together. Wrap wire strips in the center of your wire bundle and 5 inches from one end. You can make one continuous wire wrap from the center of the bundle to where the roots begin, 5 inches from the end. Wrapping the tree with different colors of wire will add design interest to your jewelry rack.
When the bundle is secure, bend the individual wires for the roots at a 90 degree angle. Spread the wires so that they encircle the bundle, or tree trunk, evenly. Make sure that your wire tree will stand on its own before you continue.
After the tree is standing, separate the individual wires at the top of the bundle to shape the branches. As you bend and shape the branches, make sure that your wire tree stands level and straight.
The craft wire is thin enough that you can hang French ear wires or drape necklaces and bracelets around each branch to display your jewelry creatively.
