Schiff Green Tea Diet Menu

The Schiff Green Tea Diet is an option for those looking to lose weight naturally. The diet uses chromium picolinate, green tea extract and caffeine. The Schiff Green Tea Diet consists of small meals rich in carbohydrates and proteins.

  1. Foods to Eat

    • The green tea diet should be 60 percent carbohydrates in the form of whole grains and vegetables, 15 to 25 percent proteins in the form of lean beef and pork, eggs and fish, and 30 percent fat, which should be from the protein. Instead large meals, eat smaller portions throughout the day. The chromium from the green tea pill aids in suppressing appetite. Eat a moderate breakfast, moderate lunch and moderate dinner with small snacks in between.

    Sample Meal

    • The following is a sample menu, based on green tea expert Julian Tai's suggestions:
      For breakfast: 1 poached egg, 1 slice of plain whole grain toast and strawberries
      Snack: blueberries with low-fat yogurt
      Lunch: salad with grilled chicken
      Snack: 1 apple and 1 to 2 slices of turkey
      Dinner: 3 ounces of grilled salmon, steamed asparagus
      A cup of green tea or water can accompany each meal. The Schiff Green Tea pill is taken twice a day before meals.

    Health Concerns

    • The Schiff Green Tea Diet pill is available without prescription at drugstores. However it is not for long term use because of risks of chromium toxicity. The warning label indicates it contains soy. In addition, the caffeine might lead to jitteriness or nervousness.
