Venison can be a tasty switch for your usual beef, pork and chicken. It's rich in protein and iron, and can be prepared in much the same way that you'd prepare other types of meat. The best way to cook a venison chop is to use a skillet, which will help you achieve a crispy, browned exterior and a tender and juicy interior. Butter and garlic add a burst of bold flavor to your chops.

Step 1

Mince the garlic cloves using a sharp knife and a cutting board.

Step 2

Heat 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter in a large skillet set over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic to the skillet as soon as the butter is melted and is starting to bubble.

Step 4

Cook the garlic for 2 or 3 minutes, stirring constantly, or until the it's just beginning to get brown.

Step 5

Scoop the browned garlic from the skillet using a spoon and set it aside.

Step 6

Spoon 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter into the skillet and let it melt.

Step 7

Add the venison chops to the melted butter in a single layer.

Step 8

Sprinkle the chops with salt and black pepper.

Step 9

Cover the skillet and let the chops cook for 4 to 5 minutes, or until the bottom is browned.

Step 10

Flip the chops over using a pair of tongs and continue cooking, covered, for an additional 5 to 6 minutes.

Step 11

Remove the venison chops from the skillet and arrange them on a serving platter.

Step 12

Brush a small amount of unsalted butter on the chops and scatter the cooked garlic over the top. Serve immediately.
