Due to the light color of white hair, yellow discolorations can easily arise from product buildup or even from regularly washing hair in hard water. While many commercial shampoos are available to maintain white hair, they often contain chemicals and artificial ingredients. Chemicals can be avoided through a weekly natural baking soda and vinegar rinse, however. These hair care solutions offer a gentle and effective way to tone and remove any buildup of product residues and minerals.

Mix 2 tbsp. of baking soda and 2 tbsp. of water in the jar until thoroughly combined. The texture should be similar to a thick paste. Place a lid on the jar until ready for use.

Pour 1 cup of apple cider vinegar into the spray bottle. Dilute the vinegar with 1 cup of water. Mix the ingredients by shaking the bottle vigorously for about 10 seconds.

Wet your hair completely in the shower. Rub the baking soda paste through the hair, focusing particularly on the scalp. Massage the paste into the roots of the hair and ensure that the entire head is covered. Rinse carefully, making sure that no baking soda residue remains.

Spray the apple cider vinegar mixture throughout your hair, making sure that the hair is fully coated. Focus on the strands rather than the roots or scalp. Ensure that the hair is fully saturated by running your fingers through it or by combing it gently with a wide-toothed comb. Rinse thoroughly.

Gently pat your hair with a clean towel. Comb thoroughly with a wide-toothed comb. Allow the hair to air-dry naturally.

Tip

Ensure that the apple cider vinegar used for toning the hair is all-natural and does not contain artificial ingredients. Avoid highly processed apple cider vinegars that contain food dyes.
