Slim in Six is a popular exercise program to help you lose weight. If you want to increase your chances of weight loss success, try the eating guide tiers for Slim in Six. Often referred to as "Michi's Ladder," the guide offers you a plan for eating healthy foods and avoiding foods that are likely to impede weight loss. Try to eat as many foods from the first two tiers as possible.
Tier One--The Pious Tier
In the Slim in Six eating guide, the first tier is the best tier of food choices. These foods are all healthy and you can eat from this list of foods without restriction. The list includes many vegetables, low fat proteins and a few healthy whole grains.
Examples of foods on the first tier are broccoli, carrots, lettuce, melon, quinoa, fat-free cottage cheese and brown rice.
Tier Two--The Happy Tier
The second tier of food still includes foods that are healthy, but may be higher in calories or fat. This list includes hummus, whole grain bagels and breads, seitan, pork tenderloin, raw nuts and corn.
Tier Three--The Swiss Tier
The third tier is called the Swiss Tier because the foods that you'll find on it are fairly neutral--they're not exactly the healthiest choices, but they won't completely ruin your diet. The Slim in Six guide recommends eating these foods in moderation.
The foods that you'll find on the third tier include lean ground beef, plain popcorn, baked french fries, iceberg lettuce, cheese and flavored oatmeal.
Tier Four--The Dodgy Tier
The fourth tier is comprised of foods that can harm your diet. Most of them have little nutritional value. You should consider the foods on this tier an occasional treat. Some of the foods on this list are pretzels, low-fat chips, spaghetti with meatballs, pancakes and macaroni and cheese.
Tier Five--The Newburg Tier
The fifth tier of Michi's Ladder is full of foods that are clearly unhealthy. You should avoid these foods if you are trying to lose weight. The foods on this list have a lot of fat or sugar. On tier five, you'll find high-fat meats, sugary soft drinks, creamy salad dressings, baked beans, french fries and doughnuts.
