How Much Room Do You Need for a Poker & Bumper Pool Table?

Having a poker table, bumper pool table and other recreational choices at home is a great way to enjoy your home more and spend more quality time with your family. Having a well-equipped game room in your home can even help you save money by entertaining friends and family members at home instead of going out. Despite these advantages, creating a family game space is no small decision, and it is important to make sure you have the space available before you go shopping.

Prepare the Space

Before you head out to the stores in search of the perfect poker and bumper pool table, it is important to prepare your space carefully. If you have an unused bedroom or den, you may want to use that space to create a family game room. A finished basement can also easily be transformed into a game room, so that may be another option.

Your Family Lifestyle

How much space you will need to devote to your new poker and bumper pool tables will depend on a number of factors. One of the most important factors is how your family will use the room. If you plan to just have a few friends in to shoot a couple of games of pool or play a few hands of poker, you probably do not need a lot of spare space. If, on the other hand, you plan to host a weekly poker night for the entire neighborhood, you will need to make sure the room is large enough to accommodate not only the poker table but all those extra people as well.

Sizing Options

To make sure you have enough space available for both your bumper pool table and your poker table, you will need to look at the different size tables on the market. If you have only a small space to work with, it may be best to purchase the smallest size table you are comfortable with, especially if your games will be limited to only a few friends and family members. If you have a bigger space to work with, you can consider a larger poker and pool table.

A typical family size bumper pool table has dimensions of approximately 54" x 39", while a quality poker table may measure 84" x 42". Although the poker table can be folded and placed out of the way when not in use, you will need to make sure there is sufficient room to use both tables at the same time. To use both a full-size poker table and a full-size bumper pool table simultaneously, the minimum space required would be at least 20' x 20'. If there is not sufficient space available, smaller versions of both tables are available, including tabletop models that can be brought out on game night and quickly packed away.
