Homemade Acrylic or Fiberglass Liquid Cleaner

Save

Acrylic and fiberglass surfaces can be fairly easy to clean. The goal is to find a cleaner mild enough to clean without scratching or damaging the finish of the surface. It is also important to find a cleaner that will dry without leaving film or streaks. Retail products are available, but a homemade solution will be less expensive and work just as effectively.

White Vinegar

  • White vinegar works perfectly as both a cleaner and disinfectant. The vinegar will also dry clear, leaving no streaks or residue behind. In a spray bottle, combine equal parts of water and white vinegar. Spray the solution onto the acrylic or fiberglass surface, then wipe clean with a dry cloth or sponge.

Alcohol

  • Rubbing alcohol also has a similar effect, working as both a cleaner and disinfectant. In a spray bottle, mix a more diluted solution by adding 2 cups of water and 1 cup of rubbing alcohol. Spray onto the surface of the acrylic or fiberglass, then wipe clean with a dry cloth or sponge.

Baking Soda and Lemon Juice

  • These two ingredients work to clean and deodorize the surface of both acrylic and fiberglass. In a spray bottle, mix 2 cups of water, 1/2 cup of lemon juice and 1/2 cup of baking soda. Place the lid on the bottle and shake to combine the ingredients. Spray onto the surfaces, then wipe clean with a sponge or cloth.
