Adenium plants are survivors. Originally, these plants were grown in very dry climates, such as in the Sahara and the Southern Arabian Peninsula. More recently, these plants have been increasingly available as houseplants. Bring the desert to life at home by caring for your own Crimson Star Adenium.

    Sun Exposure and Watering

  1. According to davesgarden.com, the Crimson Star Adenium prefers plenty of sunlight. A south-facing window is a good location.

The Crimson Star Adenium requires average watering and can withstand some periods of drought. However, the Crimson Star will respond well to generous watering during high temperature periods (such as in the summer). Still, no matter what the season, be careful not to overwater the plant as root rot can occur. To prevent rotting, use a pot that drains well.
  2. Soil Type and Use of Fertilizers

  3. The Crimson Star Adenium prefers soil that has a pH of 6.6 to 7.8. Test the soil with a pH test available at most local hardware or garden stores. The soil should also provide good drainage.

In addition to providing the proper soil, you can use fertilizer to help your plant grow. Most Adeniums prefer a slow-release fertilizer and fertilizers with good nitrogen content. Fertilize the plant regularly and be generous with the amount you use.
  4. Dangers to Pets and Small Children

  5. Be aware that this plant is poisonous. With that in mind, keep this plant in a place where pets or small children will not be likely to reach it. According to davesgarden.com, all parts of this plant are poisonous if ingested.
