The 2003 Chevy Tahoe features a dual cabin air filter application. The cabin air filters help prevent allergens and pollutants from entering the passenger cab in the Tahoe. After some time, the filters will become clogged and require replacement. Changing the cabin air filters in the Tahoe is easy to do, and you can optimize the quality of air inside the vehicle by doing so every 15,000 miles.

    The Location

  1. The cabin air filters on the 2003 Chevy Tahoe are located under the passenger side dashboard. In some vehicles, removing the glove box to access the filters is required, but not the Tahoe. There is a kick panel covering the cabin air filter access panel. The panel has four screws holding it in place that need to be removed. Once the panel is removed, you can access the cabin air filter panel.
  2. Changing the Filter

  3. Another screw retains the cabin air filter door. Once removed, you can unhinge the door to remove it. The first filter needs to be pulled down and then out in order to remove. The second filter needs to be slid forward towards to door and then pulled down and out. Be sure to pay attention to the air flow direction, indicated by arrows on the sides of the air filters so you install the new filters in the correct position.

Once the filters are removed, insert the new filters by reversing the procedure. Replace the cabin air filter door by affixing the hinge first and then closing the door to replace the retaining screw. The kick panel and the four retaining screws are all that remains to complete the task.

Changing your own cabin air filters in the 2003 Chevy Tahoe can save you time and money by doing it yourself.
  4. Maintenance

  5. If you look at the maintenance service interval schedule for your 2003 Chevy Tahoe, you'll notice the manufacturer recommends replacing the filters every 15,000 miles. This recommendation is based upon regular usage and mileage of the Tahoe. If you live in a geographical region that experiences a lot of smog or dust, you may want to refer to the severe use recommendation of the manual and change the filters more frequently.
