- For a basic invitation that any age child can make, gather plain paper, construction paper, scissors, glue, and markers or colored pencils. Trace letters or clip art onto the construction paper and use the scissors to cut out the tracings. Fold a white piece of paper in half or in quarters and paste the letters onto the card to create phrases such as "End of School Year Bash," or paste on the clip art tracings. Inside the invitation write the party details, including date, time, location and who is hosting the party.
- Take the end of the school year invitations a step further with witty statements or additional ways to creatively establish the information. Include phrases like "ConGRADulations" or "It's the End of the Beginning." Incorporate school colors or mascots into your design. If you're good at folding paper, fold the invites into hearts or another shape. Keep the invitation fresh and keep it entertaining.
- For top-notch results, invest in custom card design software. Programs can be found online and at electronics retailers; prices vary but software in the $15 to $20 range was available in 2009. Card design software makes it easy to set text and use graphics and photographs in your design. With card stock and colored ink, you can produce professional-looking results for your end-of-school party invitations--and the software can be used for other parties and greetings cards throughout the year.
