- Fill up a plastic cup with warm water and add eight aspirins. Take the cup with the dissolved aspirins into your shower and pour it over your hair. Rub the mixture thoroughly into your tresses and leave it on for fifteen minutes. After a quarter of an hour has passed, turn on the shower and rinse the aspirin out of your hair. This should restore the blonde color because salicylic acid, the primary ingredient in aspirin, neutralizes the chlorine.
- Wash your hair as you normally would, but add one teaspoon of baking soda to your shampoo. Rub the mixture in and then rinse it out after seven minutes. Condition your hair according to your normal routine. If you do not typically use conditioner, make an exception this time because the baking soda could dry out your hair. Please note that because this technique can cause dryness, you should only use it once a month. Often green hair is caused by unbalanced PH levels, and sodium bicarbonate, or baking soda, assists in restoring your hair's natural PH.
- Hop into the shower and rub a handful of ketchup into your chlorine-stained locks. Leave the ketchup on for 20 minutes and then rinse your hair. Now use the shampoo as you normally would. The acidity in tomatoes helps to counteract the chlorine, restoring the color. Next time you are in the condiments aisle at the grocery store, skip the mustard and stock up on this summertime staple.
