Spysweeper is a software program that is manufactured by Webroot, Inc. It is designed to detect and remove spyware programs that harm a user's computer. The software is helpful and is an asset since it benefits users in keeping their computers free of attacks. Installing the program may produce a number of problems for the user, but there are simple steps that can be followed in order to resolve them.

    Install Hangs

  1. Check for hard drive errors if your Spysweeper program hangs. If there is a problem with your disk drive, this can cause the Spysweeper program to hang when you are attempting to install it. The hard drive could possibly have bad sectors or a check disk scan is needed to repair it. In order to check the disk, run a check disk scan by double-clicking on your "My Computer" icon. Right-click on your disk drive icon and choose "Properties." When the dialog box opens, choose the "Tools" tab. You will see the option to choose "Check Now." This option will allow the computer's hard drive to be checked for errors. Once the disk is checked, if there are any errors they will be repaired. Once the disk is clear of errors, attempt to install the Spysweeper program again.
  2. Access Denied Error

  3. Be sure that you have administrative rights to your computer before installing the Spysweeper program. If the program detects that the computer's user doesn't have administrative rights, it will produce an "access denied" error. This error is also typically caused by the permission being set incorrectly in the registry. Microsoft's support site offers a utility that sets the user's permission in the registry to indicate that the user has administrative rights. Download the utility from Microsoft and allow it to install to the computer. Once it has been installed and the computer has been restarted, reinstall the Spysweeper software and verify that it is installed properly.
  4. Reinstall

  5. Request a new download or copy of the Spysweeper software. If you are attempting to reinstall a previous version of Spyware, you will need to request a new download or upgrade of your program from Webroot's website. You will be given the option to select the Spysweeper program and enter your name and email address in the fields provided. It is required to have a previous registration for the Spysweeper program in order to receive this download. You will be sent a download of the program, instructions and a keycode.
