Like any part of the home, you'll want to regularly clean your window coverings. Hunter Douglas designs their products to be relatively maintenance free. Such features as dirt and dust repellent help to make their shades particularly easy to keep clean. Spend a little time cleaning each week or month to keep your Hunter Douglas shades looking their best.

    Dusting

  1. For light layers of dust, use a household duster to gently brush the shades clean. Perform this task regularly to prevent dust build-up. You can also use a hair dryer set on a cool setting to blow dust off. Vacuum the dust that settles onto the floor.
  2. Vacuuming

  3. For dirtier shades that haven't been dusted in a while, vacuum the shades with the hose and a brush attachment. Gently run the vacuum brush in the direction of the shades to remove dust and dirt. Perform vacuuming as required to keep your shades clean. Note that Hunter Douglas warns against using a brush for any Luminette or Park Lane products, so do not vacuum these shades.
  4. Spot Removal

  5. Clean any dirt spots or stains with a soft cloth and solution of distilled water and mild detergent. Apply the solution to your shades and then use the cloth to gently wipe down the affected areas. Hunter Douglas suggests that you gently blot the spots rather than rubbing to protect the fabric and structure of the shade.
