Freezer Refrigerator Repair Tips

Freezers are the part of refrigerators where foods can be stored for long durations due to freezing the items. Evaporation principles are used by freezers to take in warm air and make it cooler. When freezers break, it could cost you money in lost frozen food. The major parts of the freezer that could break are the compressor, condenser, evaporator, capillary tube and a thermostat.

    Troubleshooting

  1. Freezers do not require a lot of maintenance, but you should clean certain components twice a year. Use a damp rag and warm soapy water to clean the door. Use a vacuum cleaner with a narrow brush attachment or a condenser brush to free coils. If you notice frost or ice build-up, this could be an indication of freezer trouble.
  2. Repairs

  3. If the freezer refrigerator has stopped completely, check the outlet where the appliance is plugged in. Check the thermostat. If your freezer is no longer freezing, a broken thermostat is the cheapest item to replace and the easiest to check. If the condenser coils become very dirty, they will not properly allow air to pass over them. The evaporation process stops at the coils as a result.
