- Only use cast iron cookware that is flat on the bottom. Not only do cast iron pots with the raised rim have the potential to scratch the cooktop, they will also prevent proper heat conduction.
- Never slide cast iron pots and pans across the cooktop surface. This will permanently mar the cooktop. In addition, pick up cast iron carefully, and remove from the cooktop to the countertop closest to the burner. If you lift and move the cookware over the cooktop, you risk dropping the heavy object on to the surface and causing it to shatter or crack.
